The allure of MMA in modern day sports

Rich Finaldi here once again for Combat Athlete MMA . We live in a day where pro sports fosters inflated salaries, egos, and a no accountability mentality for personal actions are supreme. Players are also very inaccessible . It seems like they won’t acknowledge you unless you buy some memorabilia to take your picture with them. Now don’t get me wrong not all of them are like that, but that is the general consensus with big sports and big money. Well what’s the allure then of MMA in the middle of all this muck? The sport of mixed martial arts conveys a message totally opposite of the attributes of other mainline sports that I just mentioned. UFC president Dana White in my opinion runs the tightest ship in pro sports as far as not tolerating anything from anyone to compromise the integrity of MMA and the UFC. From banned substances to inappropriate behavior Dana deals out a suspension or in the worst case scenario terminates a fighters contract in swift fashion. Let me tell you though Dana is a very compassionate and rewarding commissioner. Respect is a 2 way street with Dana White. When light weight Nam Phan lost a decision to Leonard Garcia in their first clash, a fight Nam clearly won, Dana rewarded Nam in the loss with the winners purse along with Garcia. That is something I have never seen in my life. I was truly blown away by that, which tells me why Dana White is giving the sport of MMA a great name. People are looking for honesty, sincerity, and appreciation that is a huge part of the allure of MMA today. Besides it being the most exciting sport thats hit the world since soccer.

Probably the best overall representative of MMA is Renzo Gracie

The fighters now, they equally match Dana White’s professionalism, respect, honor, and humility. The whole premise and foundation behind any martial art is always a attitude of all the attributes I mentioned above. This is why I have rarely trained with or known a MMA fighter or practitioner that’s had a major attitude, or ego problem. It’s truly a brotherhood like none other I have seen. Probably the best representative of the sport at the top of a long list of people that are awesome also, in my opinion is the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA legend Renzo Gracie. The man possesses a humility, a passion, and a desire to be the best in every way. He trains like an animal at the age of 44 years old better then most fighters half his age to further his MMA career, in fact he still has an active contract with the UFC so stay tuned! I have had the pleasure of meeting Renzo this year, and I can tell you one thing I have never ever met a professional athlete that had an impact on me like he did from the first time I met him. The humility, and respect he showed me was par excellence! He does all he can for his family, UFC fighters, all his friends, and children alike. You can see his greatness on display at his great school Renzo Gracie Academy in New York. Listen up everyone! Anyone that wants to get into MMA for any reason, this man is the template of perfection of who you want to be!

How can we implement MMA training in our everyday lives

I have written an article specifically on this subject on how MMA pierces our mind, body, and soulIt is true Mixed Martial Arts transcends the realm of the natural, it ties in our whole being like no other sport out there. MMA ties in correcting breathing, relaxing your mind, gets your mind/body connection in sync, and its something that all people can enjoy and flourish with from young to old. Your goal doesn’t have to be to fight in a cage. MMA style workouts themselves will greatly improve cardiovascular, and pulmonary health better then any free weight/treadmill workout could ever do.  Not to undermine free weights and treadmill cardio workouts, but MMA style workouts trains everything at once. As far strengthening your core skeletal muscles, your spine will eventually align correctly and those back pains will go away. Mentally you’ll never be the same! You will find yourself approaching life in much more methodical less impulsive way. It goes way deep into your psyche. In closing MMA once you start it will be a life long life style change. Where I train at  Combat Athlete MMA in Fairfield NJ we emphasize every single aspect of MMA.
