Hi All , Rich Finaldi here again for Combat Athlete MMA . As you know I did an interview with Master Renzo Gracie , I have met him in person recently, I have studied his multi-media on YouTube , I have read up articles on him, and I can tell you one thing there’s no one in my mind that has impacted the sport of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu more then Renzo today . Can you imagine ? His persona actually matches his greatness in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu . Its so so rare to find these 2 co-existing qualities in a publicly famous person today. His passion hasn’t dimmed at all for this martial art. Master Renzo actually transcends the sport itself. The man actually preaches love of family, respect, and honor. Once I tweeted with him about his loss to Kazushi Sakuraba, I said “Boy that must have been a lot of Advil and ice that night”. Renzo’s response was “And deprive myself of the pain generated by my actions? Never! I enjoy every single moment”. As we all know that loss due to a Kimura submission resulted in a broken arm! As the story goes Gracie gets up with the dangling broken elbow and smiles and shakes Sakuraba’s hand at the end of the match. What a warrior! His academy’s are all over in different states spreading the Gracie legacy across the U.S.A. Master Renzo spreads his never dying spirit to all who encounter him, people old and young. He has given this 40 year old BJJ beginner alot to shoot for! …Master Renzo Happy Birthday! We hope and wish to see continued greatness and success in your future endeavors !
